Demolition Grant Program

In order to address severe residential property blight, the Attorney General’s Office(AGO) has made funds available for demolition projects across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Funding requests must demonstrate an immediate community need for demolition, an absence of any other viable blight remediation measures, and plans for post-demolition site redevelopment.

The AGO has partnered with Chelsea Restoration Corporation, Fall River Community Development Agency, Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation, and Worcester Community Housing Resources, Inc to administer the grant funds. Chelsea Restoration Corporation will administer $125,000 for demolition funding in the following regions.

  • Essex County
  • Middlesex County except: Ashby, Townsend, Hudson, and Marlborough
  • Norfolk County except: Bellingham
  • Suffolk County

Each grantee will adhere to the general guidelines for demolition issued by the AGO, but can maintain their own specific terms and conditions. For more information on submitting requests for demolition funding please contact Helen Zucco.
